Terrible Terror
Pocket-sized, travels in groups and perches on your shoulder once tamed. The natural first catch.
Twelve species ship with the Isle of Berk Mod, and none of them are reskins of each other. Each has its own spawn biomes, its own taming requirement, its own breath attack and its own secondary ability. The community sorts them into five tiers, where the tier describes how much work a realistic taming attempt takes rather than how powerful the dragon is once you have it.
Most species also roll a colour variant when they generate. Variants are cosmetic rather than statistical, but some are rare enough that players catalogue them, and a summon command with a variant tag is the standard way to document the full set.
Pocket-sized, travels in groups and perches on your shoulder once tamed. The natural first catch.
Slow in the air, extremely durable on the ground. A forgiving first flying mount with a molten breath attack.
Quick and agile, with a tail-spine volley on its secondary ability. Common enough to find early.
Two heads working as a pair: one lays gas, the other ignites it. Wide model, awkward in tight terrain.
Hostile on sight and able to set itself alight. One of the strongest all-round combat mounts once tamed.
Flightless pack hunter led by an alpha. Devastating on open ground and the mod's real ambush threat.
Pulled from the HTTYD live show rather than the films. A large, aggressive flyer and the usual last stop before the night-flying species.
Lightning breath, cold-biome spawns and immediate hostility. Its rare variants are the most hunted in the mod.
Three tail stingers and a venom secondary. A duelist rather than a crowd-clearer.
Shares the Night Fury speed profile with its own approach rules. Half of the hybrid breeding pair.
Night vision on, armour off, hands empty. The fastest flyer and the hardest tame in the roster.
Hybrid offspring rather than a wild spawn. The end goal of a working Night Fury and Light Fury pair.
Approachable dragons that tolerate a careful player with the right food. Terrible Terrors, Gronckles, Deadly Nadders and Zipplebacks all sit here. One of these should be your first flying mount, because mobility is what makes hunting the rare spawns realistic.
Aggressive on sight and capable of ending an unprepared attempt. Monstrous Nightmares, Speed Stingers and the live-show Stinger need a plan rather than luck.
These will not tolerate an armed, armoured player at all. Skrills, Triple Strykes and the Fury line are the reason the taming system exists in the shape it does.
If a species is not appearing, the biome is the usual culprit. Terrain mods that replace the vanilla biome set suppress spawns without producing any error.
Adding the mod to an existing world only affects newly generated terrain. Travel several thousand blocks out before concluding something is broken.
Summoning a species in a creative test world confirms the entity is registered. If it spawns there but never in survival, the problem is world generation, not the install.
Peaceful difficulty suppresses hostile spawns entirely, and a world already saturated with other mobs leaves no headroom. Both are quick to rule out.
Night vision, empty armour slots and a slow approach. The full preparation checklist is in the dedicated guide.
