Isle of Berk Mod Download and Safe Install Sources
The Isle of Berk Mod is free and has always been distributed through the two mod platforms the authors published on. Because the project is discontinued, those listings are now archives rather than active release channels — the files stay up, but nothing new lands on them.
Where the official files live
The mod was published on Modrinth and CurseForge. Those are the only two listings the original team controlled, and they are the only ones worth trusting. Mod files are one of the most heavily impersonated download categories on the web, and an aggregator wrapping a real file in its own installer is the most common pattern.
What you are downloading
A single .jar file, a few tens of megabytes, plus the separate GeckoLib
library file. Anything that arrives as an .exe, an installer, or a zip
containing an installer is not the mod.
Before you install
Confirm you have Minecraft Java Edition, a Forge 1.18.2 profile, and Java 17 available. Missing any of those three produces a failure that looks like a broken download but is not.

Installation, step by step
Install Minecraft Forge for 1.18.2
Download the Forge installer for 1.18.2 from its official page, run it in client mode, and let it write a new profile into your Minecraft directory.
Launch the Forge profile once
Start the game from the new profile and close it again at the title screen. That first run creates the folder structure the mod needs.
Add GeckoLib to the mods folder
Place the 1.18.2 Forge build of GeckoLib into the mods folder. This is a hard dependency — the game will not start without it.
Drop in the mod jar
Copy the mod file into the same folder as a plain .jar. Do not unzip it, rename it or nest it inside a subfolder; Forge only scans the top level.
Verify from the Mods screen
Relaunch, open the Mods list on the title screen, and confirm both entries appear with a version string. Then make a creative test world before touching your survival save.
How to tell a real mod file from a repackage
Check the file extension
Forge mods are .jar files. An executable installer is a repackage at
best and something worse at worst.
Check the listed Minecraft version
A page offering this mod for 1.20 is either mislabelled or serving a different project under the same name.
Ignore download managers
No legitimate Minecraft mod requires a proprietary downloader, a browser extension or an account to fetch a jar.
Keep the library separate
GeckoLib is its own project with its own download page. A bundle claiming to include it is repackaging someone else's work.
If it will not start
If the game will not start after installing, work through the causes in order of likelihood rather than reading the crash log first.
- GeckoLib missing from the mods folder entirely.
- GeckoLib present but built for Fabric or a different Minecraft version.
- A Forge profile that is not 1.18.2.
- A Java runtime older than 17.
- Another entity or animation mod conflicting.
